One of the most recent recipes to go viral on TikTok is Vegan Cheese. You don’t have to be vegan to fall in love with vegan cheese—and I’m speaking from personal experience. If there’s one thing that vegans are tired of hearing, it’s “I can’t give up cheese!” Yes, it’s sort of a big deal, but there are so many creative, simple and healthier ways to make cheese—all without the dairy! While one would presume making cheese would be a time-consuming process, recipe developers on TikTok are proving why it can be worth your time and fun. Oeey, gooey and comforting, plant-based cheeses have all the flavor, minus the dairy (and the cholesterol that it comes with it). Real, rich, cultured non-dairy cheese is possible with just a few ingredients and a blender and comes together in 10-30 minutes!

How to Make Vegan Mozzarella Cheese

Wholesome Hedonista shows how a handful of ingredients and a powerful blender can do wonders to make this vegan-style stretchy mozzarella at home. This beautiful block of cheese melts, and goes really well on sandwiches, pizzas and bread. To make this vegan mozzarella, you need to soak cashews in warm water, and then add that along with lemon juice, agar agar powder, tapioca starch, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, a bit of tahini and warm water to a blender. Blend it to a smooth liquid, then add this liquid to a non-stick heavy bottomed pan, and cook it on medium low for 5-10 minutes or until it its thick and stretchy. Add it to a clean bowl, even the layer out and refrigerate until it is set. And that’s it! You’ve got fresh vegan mozzarella ready for consumption. You can also play around with the spices to make different flavors of your desired vegan cheese.
