Premiering on March 16, the show will see nine celebrities—including NBA champion Metta World Peace, Super Bowl MVP Ray Lewis, and Full House star Jodie Sweetin—will walk into the jungles of Panama. For two weeks, they will see if they have the grit to withstand torrential downpours, scorching heat, and deadly wildlife. Along the way, they’ll participate in team challenges, with the winners getting money toward their charity of choice. The celebs can also earn money for every day they stay in the game. Unlike many other reality shows, Beyond the Edge won’t feature any eliminations or judges. However, at any point where they feel the elements are too much, they can ring a bell to signal they are ready to go home. At the end of the 14-day experience, the remaining contestants with the top two money amounts earned get to participate in one last head-to-head adventure. The winner becomes Beyond the Edge champion and takes home the most money for their charity. So why are these stars putting their bodies, minds and emotional well-being on the line for the sake of what executive producers call “the most extreme celebrity format ever attempted”? As show host and longtime sports announcer Mauro Ranallo says, “This group of celebrities share a common mission: To prove if we all work together, we can accomplish anything for the greater good.” Click on the slideshow below to check out the contestants and host of Beyond the Edge, and be sure to tune in for the premiere on March 16 at 9 p.m. ET/PT airing on CBS.
