Camilla dressed up her rescue dogs in sweet accessories for a series of pictures to her and Prince Charles’ official Instagram account in support of Battersea Dogs & Cats home, of which she is patron. The last snapshot is of Charles and Camilla posing with the dogs on their knees. Bluebell and Beth looked like the sweetest thing ever as part of Battersea’s ‘Wear Blue for Rescue’ campaign, which encourages people to share pictures and stories of their rescue pets. The caption said, “Bluebell and Beth, The Duchess of Cornwall’s rescue dogs, are proud to show off their Wear Blue for Rescue bandanas as they support @battersea’s new campaign. The rescue movement celebrates all the wonderful pets that just need a second chance. The Duchess adopted both Beth and Bluebell from @battersea Dogs & Cats Home, a charity that has rehomed more than three million animals since being founded in 1860.” It ended with the hashtag “#RescueIsMyFavoriteBreed.” Camilla isn’t the only rescue pet-loving member of the royal family.Meghan Markleis patron of Mayhew, an animal welfare charity, and in 2019 penned a heartfelt essay about the joys of adopting a rescue pet. She wrote, “As a proud rescue dog owner, I know from personal experience the joy that adopting an animal into your home can bring.” She went on, “The choice to adopt a pet is a big decision that comes with much responsibility but infinite return on investment. It will undoubtedly change your life.” Currently the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have two rescue dogs: Guy, Meghan’s beagle that she adopted before she and Prince Harry started dating, and Pula, a black Labrador that the couple adopted shortly after tying the knot in 2018.
