In response to a fan’s question during the Watch What Happens Live! aftershow, Chrissy confirmed that the Duchess of Sussex had written to her about Jack and was “really wonderful and so kind— just as kind as everyone says she is.” She said that it makes the media hostility toward Meghan all the more baffling. “You’re like ‘My god, what is absolutely wrong with people that they have to make this person out to be so malicious or so crazy?’ when it’s just as simple as them being as kind as everyone says they are.” She then said that she and the duchess spoke over the phone in the wake of the Sussexes’ explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey, but didn’t give host Andy Cohen much to go on when he asked if the duchess had shared any extra information. “I think her truth has been her truth since the very beginning,” Chrissy said, describing the duchess as very “honest” and “open.” Meghan, who is currently expecting her and Prince Harry’s second child (a daughter!), suffered a miscarriage last July and wrote about her experience in an essay titled ‘The Losses We Share’, which was published in the New York Times. “I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second,” she said, going on, “Hours later, I lay in a hospital bed, holding my husband’s hand. I felt the clamminess of his palm and kissed his knuckles, wet from both our tears. “Staring at the cold white walls, my eyes glazed over. I tried to imagine how we’d heal.” Next up, here’s why the royal women—the Queen, Kate, and Camilla—wore colorless jewels to Prince Philip’s funeral.
