The announcement was made at Disney’s biennial convention, the D23 Expo, on Friday, Sept. 9, according to Deadline, with Pete Docter, the director of the original Oscar-winning film, and actress Amy Poehler shared the exciting news. Following suit with the original, the new film will cover the story of Riley (Kaitlyn Dias), a young girl navigating life with all of her emotions along for the ride. Poehler, 50—who originally voiced the character of Joy—said on Friday that the new film will once again “take place inside Riley’s head, only this time she’s a teenager.” She also noted that Riley will be dealing with a new set of personified emotions, which have not yet been revealed. The first film captivated audiences while Riley’s emotions—Joy (Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith)—controlled the thoughts and feelings inside her mind. But according to a report from Vulture, Kaling and Hader aren’t expected to return after an alleged pay discrepancy between Poehler and the rest of the cast. The publication states that Poehler—who voices the main character—was offered $5 million “plus additional fees and bonuses,” while the rest of the main cast was offered just $100,000, without bonuses. Vulture also notes speculation that the emotions Fear and Disgust, which were played by Hader and Kaling, respectively, might instead be replaced by a new animated feeling: Drama, although that has yet to be confirmed. As none of the cast has been formally announced yet, only time will tell for sure. More News:
