According to the New York Post, the actress revealed that she was struggling to get through the shoot with the costume on, noting, “We had to wear these enormous suits, which I think would’ve been great if we had CGI’d them, but we wanted to do it in a tactile way." “When you hear the word ‘tactile,’ you think that sounds nice and cozy. There was nothing cozy about these suits. It was like 85 pounds. It was so heavy,” she continued. “The first time I put it on I started to cry, and [Cruise] didn’t know what to do.” “I was like, ‘Tom, I’m not sure how I’m going to get through this shoot,’ and just started to cry,” she admitted. “I said, ‘I’m feeling a bit panicky about the whole shoot.’” She went on to say that the Top Gun actor stared at her for a moment, unsure of how to handle the scenario, before he blurted out, “Come on, stop being such a p—y, OK?’” Blunt said that his comment caught her so off guard that she couldn’t help but laugh at the situation. During an interview on The Graham Norton Show back when the movie was released, Blunt recalled a moment from when the two were suspended by harnesses while wearing their heavy costumes, waiting for a scene to start. She noted that Cruise always had a positive attitude while on set, but she noticed it start to “unravel” as he started to sweat. Blunt said she told her costar, “This sucks,” to which he responded with a deep breath, stating, “It’s a challenge, “adding, “Because you know what, if I start complaining, it’s on.” “I went, ‘Tom, it sucks,’ Blunt continued. “I got an, ‘Okay, fine.’” Edge of Tomorrow follows both Cruise and Blunt who play warriors who attempt to save humanity after the earth falls under attack from aliens.
