Who’s in the cast of Firefly Lane?
Katherine Heigl (Tully Hart)
Tully is the ambitious host of The Girlfriend Hour, a local Seattle talk show. She and Kate both pursued journalism careers, one in front of the camera, the other behind it. Heigl also serves as an executive producer on the series. She got her start as a child model at the age of 9 with a Cheerios commercial as her first foray in film and television. Best known for her roles on Roswell and Grey’s Anatomy, Heigl has been married to singer-songwriter Josh Kelley since 2007.
Sarah Chalke (Kate Mularkey)
Kate is a writer/producer in Seattle who worked her way up the ranks with her best friend, Tully, though she later puts her career on hold to start a family. Best known for her roles on Scrubs and as the second Becky Connor on Roseanne, Chalke also voices the character of Beth on the animated series, Rick and Morty.
Ali Skovbye (Young Tully)
Ali Skovbye started her acting career at the grand old age of 4 when she was scouted for a national car commercial. She followed that up with a lead supporting role in a film opposite Michelle Pfeiffer and Kathy Bates. Previous credits include You Me Her and The Man in the High Castle. Six Degrees of Separation: Skovbye had a recurring role on When Calls the Heart as Becky, the adopted daughter of Abigail Stanton. Her sister, Tiera Skovbye, stars in the NBC drama Nurses opposite RJ Hatanaka, who also stars in When Hope Calls, a spinoff series of When Calls the Heart.
Roan Curtis (Young Kate)
Roan Curtis had a recurring role on SyFy’s The Magicians. She also guest-starred on Supernatural and Smallville.
Ben Lawson (Johnny Ryan)
Johnny is a producer at the local television station where Kate and Tully get their starts. He battles some personal demons and tries to maintain a professional relationship with Kate but ultimately falls in love with her. In the present, he is now Kate’s estranged husband. The two are trying to navigate their relationship as friends, but come across a few roadblocks along the way. The Australian native recently authored the book To My Country, a love letter to his homeland. Lawson’s credits include Designated Survivor and Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings.
Jon-Michael Ecker (Max Brody)
Brody is Tully’s young 20-something fling. The EMT is perfect for the commitment-phobic Tully until circumstances change the dynamic of their relationship. Max is played by Texas-born Jon-Michael Ecker whose father is Brazilian actor Guy Ecker. Ecker earned a degree in Aquatic Biology before deciding to pursue acting. He began his acting career in Latin America before moving back to the States to pursue English-speaking roles. Six Degrees of Separation: Ecker’s father, Guy Ecker, was previously married to actress-singer Nia Peeples who had a guest role in Longmire which also featured actress Beau Garrett, who plays Cloud in Firefly Lane.
Beau Garrett (Cloud)
Cloud is Tully’s mother who lives a carefree life. So carefree, she forgets to be a mom most days and it’s Tully who has to be the parent in the relationship. Unlike Absolutely Fabulous, there’s anything but laughs in this mother-daughter relationship. Garrett’s previous credits include Longmire and The Good Doctor.
Chelah Horsdal (Margie Mularkey)
Margie is Kate’s stereotypical suburban mom. Horsdal’s previous credits include You Me Her, Hell on Wheels and When Calls the Heart. Six Degrees of Separation:Quinn Lord, who plays Margie’s son, (young) Sean in the series, also played Horsdal’s son in The Man in the High Castle.
Paul McGillion (Bud Mularkey)
Bud is Kate’s dutiful father. He appears mostly in flashbacks to the ’70s and ’80s. In a wide divergence from the book, Bud dies in the season 1 finale. Paul McGillion is best known for his roles on Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce and The Flash. Six Degrees of Separation:Beau Garrett, who plays Tully’s mom, Cloud, also appeared with Paul McGillion in Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce.
