Speaking of, Reynolds took to Twitter today to announce that Deadpool and Logan, two titles that fall under the umbrella of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s X-Men, would be coming to Disney+ soon. If you’re not super familiar with these films then there’s nothing inherently out of the ordinary about that news, as Disney+ already houses most of the films in the MCU. But both films are R-rated, a slightly surprising move for the family-focused streaming service. The platform has censored Taylor Swift of all people, and it just doesn’t work to censor Deadpool—his jokes just won’t land. But there’s no word yet whether the films will indeed be censored, as Reynolds has only just announced their impending arrival. “We’re supposed to announce Logan and Deadpool will soon be the first R-rated movies on Disney+,” he wrote on Twitter. “But we all know some Disney movies should already be rated R for irreversible trauma.” He’s not wrong. The first several minutes of Up honestly feels like a personal attack. It should be rated R for emotional trauma, and maybe a touch of kidnapping (or even eldernapping?). Reynolds would probably agree, seeing as he shared new MPAA rating placards for Bambi (R for the cold-blooded killing of an innocent deer mom), Snow White and the Seven Dwarves (R for breaking and entering, borderline polyandry, and non-cruelty-free diamond mining), and more with the announcement.
