The Today anchor was noticeably missing from the annual New York City ceremony, after announcing she’d have to skip out on the highly-anticipated event due to experiencing flu-like symptoms. Ahead of Wednesday’s Christmas in Rockefeller Center broadcast—which aired Nov. 30 at 8 PM on NBC—the morning show host uploaded a social media post divulging the news of feeling under the weather. In the photo, the 50-year-old shows a thermometer displaying a 101.8 temperature. “UGH - flu or something like it since Monday,” Guthrie wrote in the caption. “I’m so sad to miss the tree lighting and TODAY. Hopefully it passes soon! Miss everyone. I will be watching 🌲” Followers and colleagues jumped into the comment section of Guthrie’s Instagram post with well wishes for recovery, penning sympathetic notes of relatability. OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder wrote, “I have the EXACT same flu. And same temp,” while members of her NBC family also sent their love. “Oh I’m so sorry!! Feel better soon- It won’t be the same without you!” Kristen Welker commented, as Sheinelle Jones followed up with, “Oh no 😢 Love you and hope you kick this soon 💕.” “Nooo!! I hate when the thermometer turns red! Feel better!” meteorologist Dylan Dreyer added. The broadcast journalist was initially slated to host the special alongside Hoda Kotb, Craig Melvin, and Mario Lopez, however, she wasn’t the only missing face from the popular production. Al Roker was also forced to sit this year’s festivities out due to an ongoing medical struggle with blood clots. Get well soon, Savannah and Al!
