Not long after, though, the Kardashian konglomerate (ha!) shared that they’d be launching another reality series that sounded an awful lot like KUWTK, giving very vague details about how it may or may not differ from its predecessor and which Kar-Jenners would be in it. Fans would eventually learn that the next Kardashian series would simply be titled The Kardashians, but the series’ first teaser, which dropped Feb. 7, 2022, still offered little in the way of concrete information. In it, you can see the Kardashian-Jenner women posing in glass boxes as Nina Simone’s “New Day” blares in the background. With so many kwestions (sorry) about the series still unanswered, here’s everything we know so far about The Kardashians on Hulu—including what’s in the show’s new trailer, which members of the family will (or won’t) appear on the show, if their significant others will log any face time and more.
What is The Kardashians on Hulu about?
For a while, the family was being super tight-lipped about the whole thing and what, exactly, fans might see from their latest series. For what it’s worth, the teaser for The Kardashians promised that “all the walls will be shattered,” while a post on the new @KardashiansHulu Instagram account similarly says that fans should “shatter all expectations.” OK, but… that’s kind of vague. Another trailer for the show featured snaps of the family doing all kinds of glamorous things, like driving expensive cars, posing for the paparazzi, and getting their hair and makeup done. “You have no idea what’s coming,” Kendall says at one point. However, as of March 2022, we now have some idea what’s coming. That’s thanks to the Kardashians’ sitdown with Variety, during which they explicitly confirmed that fans will get a behind-the-scenes look at all of the recent headlines swirling around them. Specifically, Kim konfirmed that viewers will get to find out the backstory of her romance with Pete Davidson. “[They’ll see] how we met and who reached out to who and how it happened and all the details that everyone wants to know,” Kim said. “I’m definitely open to talking, and I definitely explain it.” Khloé said that the dissolution of her latest go-round with on-off partner Tristan Thompson is also a part of TheKardashians’ first season. “I wish I never had to talk about that because it’s not a fun thing to talk about,” she admitted. “But it is part of my journey in life, so we will see it on the show.” Mom Kris has spoken a little bit about what to expect in The Kardashians; per Deadline, she revealed at Disney’s 2021 upfronts, “This is the next chapter. In the new show, you’ll see us evolving as a family, fans want us to be who we are, and since moment one, they’ve been emotionally invested in our show just like we are. The fans will love seeing us continue the journey. I can’t say much about what’s coming, but spoiler, we’re going to look fabulous, and everyone’s going to watch.” And in an early-April sitdown with Ellen DeGeneres, Kris admitted (jokingly, we’re guessing!) that “98 percent of the new show” is just shots of Kourtney making out with her new-ish fiancé, Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker!
Is there a trailer for The Kardashians on Hulu?
Believe it or not, the first official, full-length The Kardashians trailer arrived during Part 1 of The Bachelor Season 26 finale on Monday, March 14 (Hulu and ABC are both owned by Disney). It opens with Kim oh-so-humbly admitting that after KUWTK ended, “Life without cameras was a big change for us.” (The horror!) Kendall then says in a voiceover, “I think it’s time to see a whole new side of the family.” Amid many dramatic shots of the sisters (and mom Kris, of kourse), the always entertaining Scott Disick tells Kim as she’s trying on clothes, “They’re gonna like you for who you are, not what you wear… I’m just kidding, obviously.” The trailer then touches on Kylie’s second pregnancy, Khloé’s ongoing drama with Thompson and Kourtney’s engagement to Barker; it also reveals through a Kourtney voiceover that “Travis and I want to have a baby” and shows them visiting a fertility clinic for help. And then there’s the Kim-Pete romance. The trailer first touches on that by Kris declaring, “This is a relationship that I don’t think anybody saw coming” before we see a shot of Kim texting Pete during an on-camera interview. Then there’s a shot of Kanye West as Kim says their divorce is “really hard.” So… drama! Before that, a teaser that dropped on New Year’s Eve 2021 offered just a tantalizing-if-hollow tagline: “When the countdown to the new year ends, the countdown to the new show begins.” It also showed the Kardashian women dressed in various shades of white and brown wishing viewers a happy new year.
Who will be in The Kardashians on Hulu?
Based on the teasers so far, it looks like The Kardashians is all about the women in the family, with only mom Kris and daughters Kourtney, Kim, Khloé, Kendall and Kylie appearing in the promos. However, Kim reportedly once told a fan on social media that ScottDisick—Kourtney’s longtime, love-him-or-love-to-hate-him love interest and the father of her three children—is signed on to do The Kardashians as well. “@ScottDisick is coming with us to Hulu… he will be back!!!!” Kim posted on Instagram. In fact, Us Weekly reported in November 2021 that Disick would only agree to do The Kardashians if he “got paid a lot.” How much is a lot? According to the outlet’s unnamed source, a lot is “an outrageous amount of money,” which Hulu apparently agreed to. Kim also told Ellen DeGeneres that she expects Kourtney’s kurrent (sorry!) love, Blink-182 drummer and fiancé TravisBarker, to also show up. “I ’m assuming because he’s such a big part of Kourtney’s life that hopefully they will be on,” Kim said in September 2021. In fact, the Us Weekly source believes that Disick’s distrust of Barker could bring the drama. “[Scott] avoids family get-togethers that Travis is at, and he has refused to be in the same room with him at times," the insider explains, even as Disick still enjoys a super-close relationship with other members of his ex’s brood. He’s always been close to Kris. He truly thinks of her as a second mom," the source says. “He’s also very close to Khloé. The Kardashians will always be family to him.” One more note about who won’t be on the show: Kim stated to Variety that Davidson isn’t a part of The Kardashians. Her exact words? “I have not filmed with him. And I’m not opposed to it. It’s just not what he does… but if there was an event happening and he was there, he wouldn’t tell the cameras to get away. I think I might film something really exciting coming, but it wouldn’t be for this season.”
