Carson wasted no time and began the results announcements immediately. The trio from Ohio, A Girl Named Tom, from Team Kelly was first to go through. Next was Jershika Maple from Team Legend, and third was Holly Forbes from Team Ariana, who Ariana Grande stole from Kelly Clarkson. Then Team Legend—Shadale, Joshua Vacanti, and Jershika—plus John Legend entertained with Stevie Wonder’s “Don’t You Worry About a Thing.” Following the performance, Carson continued announcing the results. Next to learn she was going through was Wendy Moten from Team Blake; she was followed by Hailey Mia, the youngest contestant in the competition, from Team Kelly. Next, Joshua from Team Legend got word that he was moving on to the Top 11. America also saved father/son duo Jim and Sasha Allen from Team Ariana, and Paris Winningham from Team Blake. Kelly then took the stage with her team—A Girl Named Tom, Gymani, Hailey Mia, and Jeremy Rosado performing John Legend’s “U Move, I Move.” The final two voted through to the Top 11 by America then got word they were moving on: Jeremy from Team Kelly and Lana Scott from Team Blake. That meant that Gymani, Ryleigh Plank from Team Ariana, and Shadale had to sing for the Instant Save. Shadale was up first, singing Taylor Swift’s “Breathe.” John said: “She does so well every single time. You take on different challenges every time: R&B, pop, and even country. You have shown so many aspects. You have finesse, you have spunk, you have power. You are such a great entertainer and have given us so much emotion.” Next, Gymani took the stage with Anita Baker’s “Sweet Love.” Kelly said: “On my best day, could I sing like that! You are so incredible. Those lows. It was so good. I have no idea how you are in the bottom three.” The final singer was Ryleigh, performing Ariana’s “Dangerous Woman.” Ariana said: “America, stop what you are doing and vote for this extraordinary woman. She is a brilliant vocalist. She has a heart of gold. She eats, sleeps, and breathes this. She deserves to be here.”
